A musical-literary performance for Speaker and Orchestra
In Jules Verne's novel “Around the world in 80 days” the eccentric British traveler Phileas Fogg bets 20,000 pounds if he successfully completes his travel around the world in 80 days.
The Classic Consort Vienna follows his route, and wherever Mr. Fogg and his servant Passepartout make a stop, the ensemble performs the music related to the respective country:
from London on to Brindisi, Suez, Aden, Mumbai, Calcutta, Hong Kong, Shanghai via Yokohama, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Dublin and back to London ...

The gentlemen conferred among themselves for a moment and then all called out in unison, “We take it!”
“Done!” said Phileas Fogg. “It’s on! The train to Dover leaves at a quarter before nine. I will be on it.”

Classic Consort Vienna
The musical part of this extraordinary journey is presented by the renowned Classic Consort Vienna in salon orchestra instrumentation: string quartet, double bass, clarinet and piano. It’s focus is the interpretation of Viennese “Salon music” as well as the music of the 18th and 19th centuries. All the musicians of the ensemble are also active as soloists.
